Ensuring a healthy and safe relationship between precautions and risk
By Practical Kata Bunkai on
https://www.iainabernethy.co.uk/ In this video I discuss the relationship between risk and the precautions taken to mitigate that risk. A key principle of self-protection is ensuring a healthy attitude to personal safety. If the risk is greater than the precautions, then we are in the “danger zone”. If the precautions are greater than the risk, then we may well be in the “paranoia zone”. Neither is healthy and both should be avoided. It’s also important to understand that irrespective of the precautions taken or not taken, the criminal is always solely and fully responsible for the crime. At the present time, we don’t live in an ideal world and hence criminal activity is part of the world in which we live. Therefore, simple precautions – that are commensurate to the true level of risk and that don’t prevent us from living happy and full lives – would seem to be sensible. The video covers these topics in more depth.
