Karate Nerd in China (Ep. 4)

By Jesse Enkamp on

Are Okinawan Kobudo weapons actually from Chinese Kung Fu? Watch Jesse Enkamp (The Karate Nerd) travel to China and explore the evolution of Karate, including Kobujutsu weapons like sai, tonfa, nunchaku, timbe and bo. In this episode, Jesse learns Five Ancestors Fist (五祖拳), also called Wuzuquan or Ngo-cho Kun from Master Zhang Xiao Feng, one of the highest ranked masters in Fujian. This style includes White Crane, Monkey, Luohan, Taizu and other elements to form a mix of southern kung fu styles practiced around the Southern Shaolin temple in Quanzhou. But most importantly, it includes the weapons of Kobudo - which are traditionally believed to be farming tools from Okinawa. Actually, these weapons have existed for a long time in Fujian and were meant for warfare, combat and law enforcement. Visit http://www.karatebyjesse.com to learn more. #KNIC
