Karate Throwing Principles

By Practical Kata Bunkai on

https://iainabernethy.com/ In this video I discuss core throwing principles. “Old school” karate has a lot of throws and takedowns within it. Karate’s emphasis on striking means that the throws will never be honed to the same level we see in dedicated grappling arts (there is only so much time to train), but a set of solid throws, based on solid principles, should be part of the arsenal of all pragmatic karateka; for both practical and traditional reasons. Practically, they can be useful and integrate well with the strikes. Traditionally, it’s fun and interesting to study and practise the entirety of the art. This video first appeared in the iain abernethy app (available from Google Play and the Apple App Store). If you are serious about pragmatic karate, then the hundreds of hours of instructional information in the app provides an in-depth and ever-growing resource (the app is updated with new material each week): https://iainabernethy.com/iain-abernethys-applied-karate-kata-bunkai-app My App: https://iainabernethy.com/iain-abernethys-applied-karate-kata-bunkai-app Shop: https://iainabernethy.com/shop Newsletter: https://iainabernethy.com/join-newsletter-and-get-two-free-e-books
