Seidokan Saturday 303, Deeper not wider - a new look at karate "blocks"

By World Karate Federation on

In a world where some karate teachers feel the need to add more "stuff" to their curriculum, sometimes we just need to explore more DEEPLY the basics! Our basic "blocks" are NOT just blocks. My personal mantra has always been, "a block is a strike is a lock is a throw". At self-defense range (not sparring or competition karate range) we can effectively use the basic blocking movements, which are more correctly "recieving/uke", we can change centerline reference, break, frame, lock, or strike. There's nothing wrong with adding to the curriculum of a system, in and of itself. But those additions should deepen your understanding, not just add a bunch of techniques. (I say that as someone who incorporates Kempo techniques, but I do it to explore other attributes of Seidokan not always overtly included.) - https://utahseidokankarate.com/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063505665000 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8NaMwTRvYXOn1OzoAhSJIw/
